With his 36 consecutive successful save opportunities, Joakim Soria earned a nomination for “Most Dependable” player in the 2010 This Year In Baseball Awards. He’s one of ten total challengers to the title.
It would also follow that Soria, who had 43 saves in 46 opportunities, would be in the running for closer of the year. His 43 saves were fourth most in the majors in 2010 and led to 64% of the Royals 67 victories this season. He’s joined by nine others for that distinction as well.
You can vote for Soria here. He’s the only Royal who received a nomination for the yearly awards, so vote early and vote often.
