More Minor League Accolades

First, before I get into the news, Mike Moustakas went 4-6 today with three homers, a 3-RBI double and 11 RBIs on the night.

Wow.  Just.  Wow.

It should come to no surprise, then, that Moose was named the Texas League’s Player of the Year after slugging 21 homers and putting up a 1.100 OPS. After tonight, he’s hit a total of 34 homers in 2010 despite missing the first two weeks with an oblique strain.

But that’s not all. Moustakas will join Eric Hosmer and Danny Duffy in representing Team USA in the Pan-Am games in late September. Don’t forget that earlier this year, both Hosmer and Moustakas represented the Royals in the All-Star Futures Game, where Hosmer stood out after going 4-5.

And even that was after being named to the Texas League (Moustakas) and Carolina League (Hosmer) All-Star teams as starters.

I don’t know where you’ll be in 2013, but I might just rent out a spot inside Kauffman Stadium to watch this group of players.

You can stay current on all the Kings of Kauffman content and news by following us on TwitterFacebook, or by way of our RSS feed.

I hope Moose is our starter at third in 2011. What’s to gain by leaving him in the minors? And who’s blocking him? (Betemit should dh or play left – he’s brutal at third)

I don’t buy that Gordon was ruined by being brought up to the big leagues too quickly. That’s scapegoating. He was the minor league player of the year, and a former college player. The fact that he has failed so far in the majors is because he either doesn’t have enough talent, doesn’t prepare properly, or can’t make adjustments.
