The Royals signed seven more draftees on Tuesday, bringing the total of new first-year signees to 24. I touched upon the first wave of signings on Saturday.
The newest signings are (by round):
- 8. RHP Michael Mariot
- 15. RHP Jason Mitchell
- 17. C Philip Jenkins
- 33. RHP Anthony Lohden
- 39. RHP Alex Rivers
- 40. C Dale Cornstubble
- 45. SS Thomas Zebroski
The Royals have signed 10 right handed pitchers from their draft class or as undrafted free agents, two left handed pitchers, three catchers, three shortstops, four outfielders, one first baseman, and are in negotiations with the partridge in the pear tree (but seriously, folks…)
Three of the Royals top five picks were still in the College World Series, but with the elimination of Cal State Fullerton and Alabama, SS Christian Colon (1) and OF Brett Eibner (2) can now negotiate. LHP Kevin Chapman (4) from the University of Florida is still participating. The Gators will play at 6 p.m. on Saturday the 19th on ESPN should you wish to check out the Florida closer.
