A few minor moves for the Royals today:

Chris Getz was activated from the DL today after a minor oblique issue. He finished a brief rehab assignment in Omaha yesterday and will be in the lineup tonight at Tampa.

To make room for him on the roster, Victor Marte was optioned to Omaha. Marte was recalled yesterday in place of John Parrish who went on the DL. Marte pitched 2.1 innings in last night’s blowout loss at Tampa, giving up one run and surrendering two walks, two hits and a hit batter.

Luis Mendoza cleared waivers after being designated for assignment last week. He’s been assigned to Omaha and will be their starting pitcher tonight. Mendoza had a rough time in Kansas City, posting a 22.50 ERA in four appearances.

The Royals return to a typical seven man bullpen and Alex Gordon hits the bench while Getz mans second base and Alberto Callaspo takes over third base. Some speculated that Gordon would go to Omaha to get regular playing time with Getz’s activation, but it appears he’ll be around for a while, at least. Gordon is hitting .194 in 31 at bats in 2010 with only one RBI.
