All Aboard the Omaha Express
A few minor moves for the Royals today: Chris Getz was activated from the DL today after a minor oblique issue. He finished a brief rehab assignment in Omaha yesterday and will be in the lineup tonight at Tampa.
Throw The Book At Him
With Chris Getz returning from the disabled list, Victor Marte’s brief stay in the Kansas City bullpen came to an end, as he was optioned back to Omaha, which returns the Royals to a typical seven man bullpen. So much has been made of the failures of the bullpen in 2010 for the Royals. And I don’t want to relive the pain, but, hey, I’m a Royals fan. Pain is what we do around here.
You Stay Classy, Kansas City
A lot has been made this past week in Kansas City about the return of current Mariner and former Royal, Mike Sweeney. Sam Mellinger of The Kansas City Star set off the talking point with his article, which gave reference to the few thousands fans who remained at the game on Monday night and booed vigorously as Sweeney came up as a pinch hitter in the ninth inning. [...]
Victor Marte recalled
Right-handed reliever Victor Marte will be joining the Royals starting with this weekend’s series at Tampa Bay, according to Bob Holtzman on Twitter. To make room, John Parrish goes on the DL with rotator cuff inflammation in his pitching shoulder.

Actually we went mobile quite a while ago, but I neglected to let everyone know about it. Now I can cross this task off my list.
San Francisco touched by an Angel, signs Berroa
The headline says it all. Angel Berroa, 2003 AL Rookie of the Year and hero to Royals fans everywhere, has apparently signed a minor league contract with the San Fransisco Giants. That’s according to Baseball America’s weekly Minor League Transactions blog, which was posted today covering the week of April 19th-April 26th. Ah, Angel … what could have been. If only your 2003 WAR of 2.7 was the norm and not the exception. You had the power to save us from the horror that was Tony Pena Jr. but … you … failed …
Movin’ on Up: Montgomery Earns Promotion
David Holtzman reported tonight that minor league LHP Michael Montgomery is earning a promotion, moving from High-A Wilmington to AA Northwest Arkansas. Montgomery, 20, is regarded by most as the Royals top prospect entering 2010.
Royals Rewind: 4/19-4/25
So…things could have been worse. The Royals snuck out of the third week of the season with a 2-4 record that could have been 0-6 (but should have been 4-2). They lost both a series at Toronto and back at home to Minnesota. But again, it could have been worse.
Series with Seattle Starts Tonight
Coming off of a disappointing one-win series against Minnesota, the Royals are back at it tonight against the Seattle Mariners in the first of a three game set before heading out of town on Thursday to Tampa Bay to take on the Rays. The Royals, now standing at 7-11 and last in the AL Central, get to face one of the best pitchers in all of baseball tonight, Seattle ace, Felix Hernandez. He is coming off of his best start of the season, a complete game (no earned runs) against the Baltimore Orioles and I’m sure he is licking his [...]
Royals claim Jai Miller off waivers
Just announced: The Royals have claimed OF Jai Miller off waivers from Oakland. The 25-year-old is a former Marlins prospect, ranking 28th in Baseball America’s 2010 Prospect Handbook. Miller will be outrighted to Omaha and takes Josh Fields’s spot on the 40-man roster (Fields was placed on the 60-day DL due to hip surgery). Miller’s never put it together in the minors, carrying a career .237/.322/.389 line in over 2500 at bats and a 10.5% walk rate over that span. His best season came in 2009 in AAA New Orleans, where he hit .289 with 16 homers in 343 at [...]
40 hours: Josh Fields and mixed messages
Let’s go back in time to Friday night. It was 8:04 pm when Terez A. Paylor published some injury updates on Chris Getz and Josh Fields for the Kansas City Star. By all accounts, Chris Getz is on his way back and that is good news assuming the Royals can make room for him on the roster in a way that does NOT involve Alex Gordon. This isn’t about Chris Getz or impending roster moves, however. [...]
Game Reaction, Royals vs. Twins 4/23
It’s been a long, but great week for me, so I decided that I would have an nice, relaxing evening watching the Royals host the Twins in the first game of a weekend set. The Royals returned home after a long road trip, where they went 4-5 in series against the Tigers, Twins, and Blue Jays. It could have been a winning road trip, considering the Boys in Blue let a few games slip through their fingers. Alas, the Royals returned back to the K after Alex Gordon’s game winning home run against Toronto on Wednesday with, I would assume, [...]
