Unfortunately that was not to be. I hope that the next guy gets to operate under the same set of rules as Dayton. If David and Dan Glass revert to their mode of operations when Baird was GM we are doubly screwed as Royals fans. Like you I have been holding out hope, but that looks like a foolish course of action on my part these days. I'm going to give him till opening day but all the signs point toward the need to close the GMDM chapter of Royals history sooner rather than later. Do any of us really think that Allard Baird couldn't have rebuilt the farm system given that kind of budget? Baird, after all, is the man responsible for bringing in Butler, Gordon, and Greinke.
