Wally Fish raises a stinky point. With all the baffling acquisitions DM has made in the off season, we still should remember that we'll be going into the 2010 season with an unskilled, unloveable, unpredictable manager to kick things off. If Hillman were gone and a better manager was lined up for 2010 (that list includes a few people who are dead,) I might be taking these forehead slapping signings with greater stride. We've got a team rich with glaring lack of depth and a pompous tool to lead them. Good times are at hand.

If Dayton were trying to get fired, I don't think he would have have signed a contract extension this summer. When it comes to wasting ownership's money David and Dan Glass gave him that extension after he whiffed badly on Jose Guillen, Yasuhiko Yabuta, Kyle Farnsworth, and others. In short I don't think wasting a couple million here and there is of much concern to ownership.

As much as I dislike his job performance when taken as a whole, any GM should be given at 5 years before being run because it takes that long to see if their initial drafts bear any fruit.

That said, he's certainly not doing himself any favors by keeping Trey Hillman around.

"Instead the team committed another $200,000 (at least) and tied up a spot on their 40-man today"

...so this month alone, the Royals first released 2 players, then signed 2 players who obviously aren't any good to replace them, for around $1,200,000 more than they could've spent to keep the players they already had.

I think Dayton Moore's trying to get fired now. It's one thing if you can't build a winning team, but it's a whole 'nother thing when you start wasting the boss's money beyond a reasonable doubt.
