I'm certainly not a Humber fan so I'm with you there. His signing was the one minor league contract the Royals have given out this offseason that I would not have even considered. The Twins are my second favorite team (since I grew up in Minnesota) and I still follow them closely, so I am all too aware of Philip's potential "contributions."

No please no, Not Humber again! I can't escape him!

This is ironic. I'ved like the Royals since I lived in Lawrence, KS 10 years ago. Now I live near Rochester, NY... Twins AAA club's here. Between that and Dayton Moore, I've come to like the Twins too. They're my relief from stupidity. I am so sick of Humber and glad they got rid of him. Now he's in KC....where I'll be hearing about him more.

BTW, here's something I wrote back in July about Humber... http://rredwings.com/2009/07/19/our-pitching-woes/

You guys will not like this pitcher.

Humber did have the top rated curveball in the Mets system while he was there. Maybe they do see something they can fix. I'm skeptical on that, and even if they see something in his mechanics, I don't think it's going to make this a good signing. He just doesn't have the arm that he used to.

I agree that the upper levels of the minors are still lacking, but why settle for Humber to fill one of these spots, when there are many other options available? Options with more upside and ability. I'm not just taking shots here. I've reacted very positively to a majority of the minor league FA signings this offseason and my standard for what consistutes a good move along these lines is pretty low. This one however just doesn't make the grade for me.
