As you can probably tell, I am putting off tackling 2004-2006 in my Royals Rotten Decade series. Who can blame me? It takes time to gather enough motivation to tackle 310 losses in a 3 year stretch. Anyway it’s New Years Eve which means that tonight is not the night to be rehashing the failures of Royals seasons past. I hope you will enjoy what I have come up with instead.

This afternoon the Oakland Athletics designated 26-year old LHP-Jay Marshall for assignment. The A’s needed to make room on the 40-man roster for 32-year old RHP-Justin Duchscherer who was resigned to a 1-year contract. Both players elicit a reaction from a Royals’ standpoint.
It has been almost two weeks since Sluggerrr Snacks made it’s debut. Two weeks is a long time. Our favorite lion and mascot has been getting awfully hungry. Today, as I take a break from the Royals Rotten Decade series, Sluggerrr consumes some tasty morsels on Billy Butler, Miguel Olivo, and Kyle Davies.
Royals Rotten Decade (2003)
During the 2000s, no major league team lost more games than the Kansas City Royals. It was a decade where the negatives far outweighed the positives. This is the fourth installment of the 11 part Royals Rotten Decade series. I will briefly examine each season in the last decade before wrapping up the decade in the 11th and final part.

Time to take a stroll around the MLB blogs of FanSided. This is a day late because I was having too much fun with the in-laws the last couple days to get anything published yesterday.
While Royals’ fans continue to wait for the announcement of a move that truly energizes the fanbase, Dayton Moore’s minor league contract train continues to chug along the tracks. The team recently signed LHP-Nelson Payano, OF-Jorge Bonifacio, and OF-Damon Hollins to minor league deals.
Baseball America’s Ben Badler led their ESPN SportsNation Chat today. You can click here to read the entire transcript, but I wanted to post Badler’s response when he was asked about Billy Butler.
The Royals non-tendered Josh Anderson the night of December 12th. Apparently 11 days was too long to go without a light hitting OF with that surname. Thus, after 10 days, the Royals have signed Anderson, Brian N. to a one-year $700,000 contract. Dayton Moore has confused me once again.
