Today the Puerto Rico Winter League kicks off.  In the spirit of consistency, here is a look at Royals’ players who are currently assigned to rosters.

It’s Wednesday which means it’s Rafters Report time.  It’s also Veteran’s Day so please take a moment to reflect on the sacrifices made by the men and women that have fought for and represented our country over the years.  Also take a moment to reflect on the sacrifices made by the families of those troops while they were away from home.

Today is one of those days where my lack of motivation has, for the most part, won the battle over my compulsive urges to write.  This is likely due to my recent lack of sleep and the fact that I have been fighting a cold off and on for what seems like a month now.  Still the urge to write could not be completely quashed and this is the result.

There are times in life when you come across something and you experience opposite emotions at the same time.  Today I had one of those moments when I read an article posted by Bob Dutton of the Kansas City Star.

Time for the Sunday Rafters Report which includes my notes on Mike Moustakas’ performance in Saturday’s AFL Rising Stars Showcase.

Featured in this edition of Crown Gems: at least five links for each AL Central team.  The two big news items are, of course, the Mark Teahen trade and the Twins acquisition of J.J. Hardy, but there is plenty of other good AL Central news to pass along and read about.  To properly assess and evaluate the Royals, we need to have a good knowledge of our divisional opponents.  Check out these posts and have a great night!

Back on September 18th, I published my 2009 Prospect Reviews of the number 1 ranked prospects for each AL Central team.  Today I present to you the 2nd, and long overdue, post in the series.  This edition will cover the #2 prospects, according to the Baseball America 2009 Prospect Handbook.  So lets get to the reviews of Dayan Viciedo, Matt LaPorta, Ryan Perry, Eric Hosmer, and Ben Revere.

Both teams have now confirmed the rumored Teahen trade.  The deal is exactly the same as it was reported yesterday with the additional detail that the Royals are sending some cash, along with Teahen, to the White Sox.  Kansas City gets Chris Getz and Josh Fields in return.  Click here and here to read the related articles by Bob Dutton and Dick Kaegel.  The cash doesn’t significantly alter my thoughts on the trade which I published last night.

Several news sources and blogs have already chimed in on the news, so I’m a little late to the party.  Today the Royals traded Mark Teahen to the Chicago White Sox for Chris Getz and Josh Fields.  Many are applauding this as a “good” move by the Royals.  As for me I’m okay with the deal, but congratulations Dayton, you have confounded me once again.
