Touche'

Seriously though, in 11 ML seasons Pavano has a 4.44 ERA, 1.358 WHIP, 2.47 SO/BB, and an ERA+ of 96. When he is healthy he is solid and by solid I mean basically average.

Not that it is a ringing endorsement of Carl, but Greinke was the only Royals starter to best Pavano's career ERA+ in 2009.

If a team signs him to be a front end guy, they are screwed, but if he is meant to be a middle to back of the rotation guy then he has decent value. Especially if the team that signs him has some depth in the event he gets hurt. He's in the mold of Jeff Suppan and Paul Byrd.

With Baker and Slowey to front the rotation, and good depth with Blackburn, Perkins, Liriano, Duensing, Swarzak, and Manship among others, Pavano makes sense for the Twins.

Um, Wally, I think you have a typo. You called Carl Pavano a solid SP. I think what you meant to say is he is garbage.
