I don&#039;t feel like the Royals are any better after this trade.  But it&#039;s true you can&#039;t keep marching the same guys out there &amp; expect a much different result.  For a team like the Royals, change for change&#039;s sake is a positive.  Hopefully we can soon get to the point where we&#039;re doing change for IMPROVEMENT&#039;S sake, not just change&#039;s sake.</description>

Well written piece on the trade. You definitely know the Royals better than I do, so I&#039;ll defer to you, but in my opinion Teahen should be around a 1 WAR player given his average offense/defense at an easy position. You&#039;re right about the money: Teahen was going to get paid essentially free agent market rate for his services, and that&#039;s just not what a team like the Royals can afford.

As for picking up Fields and Getz, I think DM was just trying to turn an asset with no surplus value into pieces that may turn into something someday. Neither of them are good now, but both have some upside. I give DM props for making a decent move here, in my opinion.</description>
