Some of the time he acts like a “by the numbers” guy and some of the time he acts like a “by the gut” guy. Either way he usually falls on the wrong side of things, and he abuses his pitchers. One minute he doesn’t want Soria to pitch more than one inning and then the next minute he is rolling Soria out for 2 inning saves consistently. He overworked Jamey Wright early on and ruined his season, and he flat ran Gil Meche and Brian Bannister into the ground.

Though I would have fired him midseason, since he is going to be around to start 2010, I just wish he’d pick an approach/plan and stick to it. Oh and I would prefer that he would stop acting like he is operating on a different level than the fans who have followed the team and baseball for a long time. Arrogance is a trait that Dayton and Trey both share, and it has worn very thin very quickly with the fan base.

We are all still waiting for a definition or explanation of the mythical “process” that Dayton and Trey both consistently reference. Sadly they refuse to explain because it is allegedly too complicated for the fans to understand.
