Lucas Holko

I came upon the story of Lucas Holko thanks to a post written by Craig Calcaterra over at The Hardball Times.  Without Craig’s efforts this would have passed me by completely and though it happened almost 2 weeks ago I felt compelled to share this with everyone.

The below was taken from MiLB.com:

"Minor League teams and the communities that surround them have come together during the playoffs to support 4-year-old Lucas Holko, who was critically injured when he was hit in the head with a foul ball at a game in Mahoning Valley on Sept. 2.The Lucas Holko fund has been created to help with expenses associated with the accident and his recovery. Donations to the fund are being collected at every New York-Penn League playoff game, and also at Cortland Banks in the Mahoning Valley area. The participating teams are listed below, please check the playoff schedule to determine where the season’s remaining games will be held."

If you are inclined to help the family out with a donation or just want to send well wishes to Luke and his family, please go here.  If you click on the updates section, there is a link to subscribe to an RSS feed so you can follow along in his recovery.

The below is the first time I have ever added a video to a post, and I don’t know when I will do so again, but please take the time to watch the NBC news story.

Luke’s story puts the Royals crappy season into proper perspective in a hurry doesn’t it?
