The deadline/go-live for my oft-mentioned, monster of a project, at my daytime job is Thursday, October 1st. Due to the rapid approach of said deadline, I am going “underground” and probably will not emerge with a new post until Friday or Saturday.
I feel guilty and unsettled inside to be stepping away from writing for a few days, but fear not, I’ll be back soon with a less stressed and far less cluttered mind.
As always thanks for reading, keep checking in, and feel free to subscribe to the Kings of Kauffman RSS feed by clicking here.

Pardon Me but it’s Crunch Time
After spending the last 5 days pulling together the 5 part Royals Instructional League Primer, another edition of Crown Gems is long overdue. Included in this edition is a collection of links that I found interesting enough to flag throughout the week. Enjoy your Saturday Link Potpourri!
Not a lot has been written about the 56 players named to the Royals Instructional League roster, so here is a primer of sorts recapping each player’s 2009 season and prospect status as it stands today. This is part 5 of 5 which covers the right-handed pitchers on the roster.
Not a lot has been written about the 56 players named to the Royals Instructional League roster, so here is a primer of sorts recapping each player’s 2009 season and prospect status as it stands today. This is part 4 of 5 which covers the left handed pitchers on the roster.
There has not been a lot written about the 56 players named to the Royals Instructional League roster, so here is a primer of sorts recapping each player’s 2009 season and prospect status as it stands today. This is part 3 of 5 which covers the outfielders on the roster.
There has not been a lot written about the 56 players named to the Royals Instructional League roster, so here is a primer of sorts recapping each player’s 2009 season and status, in my mind, as it stands today. This is part 2 of 5 which covers the infielders on the roster.
Staff and players reported to Instructional League yesterday, September 20th. The first workout is set for today in preparation for the 18 game schedule that runs from September 29th through October 23rd. There has not been a lot written about the 56 players named to the roster, so here is a primer of sorts recapping each player’s 2009 season and prospect status as it stands today. I’m going to break this up into several sections. Catchers, infielders, and outfielders will each have their own post. Pitchers will be split up into at least two posts, maybe even three.
In this edition of Crown Gems: The Royals officially take a step back in their progress, DiamondView, the world draft, Bryce Harper, Aaron Crow, Royals blogging activity, Wade Davis, Prince Fielder, and random things that have made me happy.
I thought it would be interesting to take a look at how the #1 pre-season prospects from each AL Central team have performed in 2009. Enter the first edition of the Central Processing 2009 Prospect Review. For purposes of the rankings, I am using Baseball America’s 2009 Prospect Handbook and am listing players in alphabetical order based on their ML team. Let’s take a look at the career paths of Gordon Beckham, Carlos Santana, Rick Porcello, Mike Moustakas, and Aaron Hicks to date.
Good morning to all! This version of Crown Gems is just a collection of random thoughts and links to get you started. It covers Zack Greinke, Aaron Crow, Tanner Scheppers, Saves, and the co-ed Hamfighters. Tonight I will be posting another edition of Central Processing which, time permitting, may cover all of MLB instead of just the AL Central.
Robinson Tejeda and Lenny DiNardo are working to prove just how flawed Dayton Moore’s plan was back in the Spring.
Much has been made of Zack Greinke’s 2009 statistical rankings in the AL and MLB as a whole. Those discussions, especially as they relate to his chances of winning a Cy Young, are definitely worth all time and effort put into them. However, Zack’s season isn’t just worthy of the AL Cy Young Award in 2009, it merits being mentioned among the best of the last 41 seasons.
