ECP you are completely right about Cristian Guzman, turns out the rumors and the reports from the Boston Globe weren't true and the Red Sox did not submit a claim on Guzman. I'm not so sure the Nats would have pulled him back if he had been claimed, but we will see how it plays out since Guzman has now cleared waivers and can be traded to any team.

I'm not pro-Yunie, but if the prospects Moore gave up flame out, than a huge part of the criticism of the deal goes up in smoke. There is still the very legit argument that acquiring Betancourt for anything was a mistake and that his contract will limit the Royals moves for at least the next calendar year.

Sorry about the White Sox/Mariners mix-up, you are correct and on that I erred and am an idiot. (I will fix shortly)

Also didn't realize that TPJ started the game in his debut, but the end result is what matters. Of course I think the TPJ thing is a complete waste of time and just serves to take innings away from guys who might become something.

I am ashamed that I made 3 errors in one post and beg the forgiveness of all that read this.

Thanks!

As it happens, the Red Sox did NOT actually put in a claim for Cristian Guzman, and the Nationals would have pulled him back if anybody had done so anyway.

As for trading Dan Cortes for Betancourt, it matters not one bit that Cortes' stock is falling and he's been terrible since the trade. To me it doesn't make the trade look one whit better. I don't give a rip that Cortes was traded; I object to what he was traded FOR. (By the way, Cortes and Saito are not in the White Sox organization. They were traded to the Mariners.)

And TPJ actually STARTED that game for the Surprise team; he didn't come in in relief. I have no clue, however, why he only pitched 2/3 inning. Strange things go on in rookie ball, though.
