Horacio Ramirez, aka the 1.8 million dollar mistake, was signed to a minor league contract this afternoon by the Washington Nationals. He will begin his Nats career with their Triple-A Syracuse affiliate. I’m positively stunned that someone actually signed him. This just proves that it pays to pitch left-handed. After all we are talking about the same Ho-Ram that had a 5.96 ERA, 1.676 WHIP, and 1.18 SO/BB with the Royals this season. Since it is the Nationals that signed him there is a fairly good chance he will be up with the Major League team at some point this season. That said, we can safely assume that the Nats don’t have the same irrational love for Horacio that Dayton and Trey did.
On behalf of Royals fans everywhere, thank you Washington!
